I am an Ethiopian American Fashion Designer and a recent graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University. My work is rooted in storytelling, cultural identity, and the emotional connections we form with storytelling, cultural identity, and the emotional connections we form with clothing. Growing up Ethiopian American shaped my perspective as a designer, inspiring me to explore how heritage and personal/ shared experiences can be translated into garments.
My design approach combines throughful concepts development and textile exploration to create pieces that challenge traditional ideas of dress. I am drawn to the way clothing can communicate what words sometimes cannot, using construction, texture, color, and form to express identity and emtions. Through my workI aim to create garments that not only make a visual statments but also encourge connection, representation, and meaningful conversations.
As I continue to develop my practice, I aspire to create contemporary fashion that bridges cultural heriatge with modern design while giving people space to see their own experiences reflected in what they wear. I believe clothing is more than what we put on our bodiesbut the memories it carries, the stores it tells, and reminds us that we are not alone in the experiences that shape us.
